Locker Rooms Temperatures

Centre Members,

We have been working on the heating in the locker rooms for a few days now.  It has been fluctuating up and down and we apologize for that.  We have discovered a number of plugged inline air filters and have since cleaned and replaced them.  We are now working on balancing out the system so it can do a better job of maintaining a consistent temperature.

We apologize for the fluctuation in temperatures and are working to get it fixed ASAP.

Thanks for your patience.

Locker Room Updates

During the pool closure week Centre staff, lead by Vince Dreyer and Matt Lubich dug into the women’s locker room to provide some needed updates.  As the locker room re-opens members will see a new seating area in the middle of the locker room, two dry changing rooms, and three privacy shower stalls.  In addition we will be adding a dry vanity area where the benches were located in the next few weeks.  We have relocated the benches to the main locker room area and to the wall leading into the showers.  We hope that members will find these changes a positive addition to our facility.

RCU Studio Gets A Facelift

On Monday, September 3, the RCU Studio got a chance to get into the construction and renovation fun as we completely stripped and sanded the floor in the studio.  This is the first time this has been done to the floor in the studio, which was installed in 2004.  The work was done on Monday and will need to cure for the remainder of the week and we plan to re-open the studio on Monday, September 10.  While the studio is closed we will be moving classes to the old weight room for the week.

Please note there will be a fresh paint smell for a portion of the week.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone.

August 15, 2012

Dear Centre Member:

We are hitting the end of the remodel and construction road and we have a very important update on the gymnasium.

On Tuesday work began on the gymnasium floor, which received some damage during the construction process.  The floor has been sanded and damaged boards have been replaced.  The next step, scheduled for Thursday evening, is for the floor to begin to be sealed.

The sealant that is put on the floor is not dangerous for anyone but does emit an odor.  We want members to be aware of this as beginning Friday there could be an odor.

Once the floor has been sealed we will be able to re-open the gymnasium, which is now scheduled for Tuesday, August 28!

A full schedule of remaining activities will be available for members on Monday, August 20.

If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 246-2252 or e-mail me at dblattner@nracentre.com.  With all the events and activities going on it’s easy to forget to share things so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have.  You can also keep up to date with construction happenings, including pictures through our website at www.nracentre.com.

Sincerely,

Darian Blattner

May 23rd Update

Dear Centre Member:

The outside portion of construction is nearly complete.  In the next two weeks the inside work will begin and you will see more changes to the facility.  The best news is the work is on schedule!

Here is what has happened in the last couple of weeks:

· The outside masonry has been completed and only a few touch up spots remain.

· Windows have been installed in the new areas.

· Rooms have been framed up and insulation is starting to go in.

· The roof has been installed with only a few touch up spots to finish.

· Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC work is on-going.

· Most of the parking lot has been cleared up for members to resume parking.

· The landscaping was installed by Backyard Paradise Landscaping!

Items for the coming weeks:

· Doors into the new community rooms will be saw cut at night this week.

· More temporary walls will be installed for the old vestibule to be removed.

· The new front vestibule will be constructed.

· The walls in the new areas will all be sheet rocked.

We do have one request of our members and this comes from our surrounding neighbors.  Whenever possible we ask our members to park in one of the parking lots and not on the side streets.  Our neighbors have expressed some frustration with people parking in front of their homes and driveways and they have concerns with safety as the streets fill up.  We are working with Derrick Companies to help keep the parking lots clear in the evenings so if you can please try and park in the lots before going onto the side streets.  Our neighbors will appreciate it!

Centre Spotlight
on Backyard Paradise Landscaping

The muddy mess in the front of the Centre has been transformed. This transformation came to us courtesy of a donation and sponsorship by Backyard Paradise Landscaping.
Backyard Paradise Landscaping is a family owned business right here in the New Richmond area.  We wanted to share more with you about Backyard Paradise Landscaping.

Bill, the company owner, started landscaping in the summers during high school, which led to landscaping during the summers during college.  He quickly realized his passion for the outdoors and knew that the industry was for him.  When installing an outdoor living space at his parents, he and his dad decided this was the business they needed to start.  So in November of 2005 they began their venture and Backyard Paradise Landscaping was born.

The mission of Backyard Paradise Landscaping has been to always exceed their customer's expectations in all aspects.  They strive to create a new lifestyle for their clients by giving them an outdoor living space.  The outdoor living space is meant to give them an escape from their daily grind, interjecting some serenity and tranquility in their lives.

The short term vision for Backyard Paradise Landscaping is continue winning awards in all aspects of landscaping and outdoor living while staying focused on their long term goal to not only provide unique and beautiful outdoor transformations, but also to build on their other divisions from commercial lawn maintenance to snow and ice management and to retail and wholesale storefront.

Bill and his wife moved to New Richmond a few years ago.  They would like to make their footprint here in New Richmond.  They have four children involved in sports and other activities and are personally, and as a company, trying to get more involved with their local church through programs like "Faith Works," membership with the New Richmond Chamber of Commerce, and continually looking towards other avenues to help their local community thrive.

Backyard Paradise Landscaping now employs 9 people and in 2011 received the prestigious Hardscape Installer of the Year Award for the state of Wisconsin.  When asked why they are helping the Centre with their landscaping project, Bill responded, “We think that health is very important to our community and believe very strongly in the strides that the Centre has currently made within our community.”

Please join us in extending a huge thank you to Bill and his entire team for giving the Centre a much needed facelift and for all his organization is doing in our community.  Backyard Paradise Landscaping can be found on the web at www.mybackyardparadise.com.  Give them a call with all your landscaping needs.

The Work Moves Inside

This week you will see some changes to the inside of the Centre.  Some temporary walls will be constructed as the project continues.  These walls are in preparation of saw cutting doors from the hallway by the locker rooms into the new Community Rooms.  The plan is for this work to be done at night this week.  The current vestibule is also scheduled for demolition in the coming weeks.

Things are really moving along!

Cement Floors Being Poured TODAY!

Next time you come into the Centre take a look to your left and you'll notice the concrete floor has been poured in the new Community Rooms.  Things continue to move along with a new space completion date still on course for August 3.  Watch for detailed information on what will happen in August to put the finishing touches on the facility and we'll have everything done by Labor Day!
Summer Hours Now In Effect

The Centre's summer hours are now in effect and they are:

Monday through Thursday            4:45 am to 9 pm
Friday                                             4:45 am to 8 pm
Saturday and Sunday                     7 am to 8 pm

We will not have Kids Kove on Sunday's until September!

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Well things are really going strong.  We haven’t updated for a while as not much has changed in terms of the work being done.  The good news is the work is getting done and everything is currently on schedule!

Here is what continues to happen:

· The masonry continues to grow taller and the walls will be complete by next Tuesday.

· The entrance remains on the south end of the building.

· The gymnasium opened back up after the spring break week and a small electrical fire from the outside of the building.  All has been cleaned up and use of the gym continues.  No one was in the gym at the time of the event.

Items for the coming week (April 30-May 5):

· Structural steel will arrive next Tuesday, May 1 and the pre-cast plank will be arriving the following week on Monday, May 7th.  These arrivals will cause the road right in front of the Centre to be closed periodically to allow for the crane and the trucks to do their work.  We recommend parking on the side streets on May 2 and May 3 and again the following Monday, May 7.  It’s exciting as this means soon the new areas will have a roof!

· Landscaping pre-work will begin to clean up the south end of the building.

· An additional emergency exit door will be added to the gymnasium.

· We do not anticipate any internal work to be done until after May 5th.

Front Entry Way Moved to South of the Building

Today the front entry way was blocked off in the next phase of the remodeling project.  Members and guests will now need to enter through the doors on the south side of the building closest to the locker rooms.  Please remember to come down to the welcome center to scan in.  This will be the new entrance until the end of the project.

Pool Closed on Friday at Noon

The Centre's pool will be closed today at noon until Saturday morning at 7 a.m.  We will be doing some maintenance on the pool pump motor, replacing the bearings.  We'll also do some additional maintenance in the pool to take advantage of the down time.

Sorry for the short notice and inconvenience with the pool closure.  Taking care of the bearings now will assure we don't have bigger issues with our pool pump motor down the road.

March 28th Update from Earlier this Week

Things are really starting to move now!  As you have probably seen the sidewalks are coming out, the water line for the sprinkler system was put in last Friday and the big news is that starting Tuesday the old armory side of the building will be coming down!

Items for this week (March 26-30):

· Monday through Wednesday demolition of the old armory side of the building.  Kids Kove will be closed these 3 days.  The scheduled start time for the building to come down is on Tuesday.  We don’t have an exact time yet but if you want to come and witness history it will be on Tuesday!

· A temporary sidewalk will be put in on Monday or Tuesday.  This will be for the change in entrance during the construction.  Our new entrance for the next 4 months will be down by the locker rooms.  We’ll ask members to enter through the current emergency exits.

Items for next week (April 2-6):

· The entire front of the building will be fenced off.

· The entrance will move to the south end of the building (watch for signs).

· The gymnasium will be closed during spring break week.  Kids Kove will be moving into the 4K room as there is no 4K during spring break.

· In the gym the old air handling unit will be removed that was with the old steam boiler, which also will be removed and replaced with energy efficient roof top units.

· Footings will also be poured during the week.

· The front internal vestibule will be removed.

The Work Begins

Three pictures from the start of construction today!  Lots happening right now!

Bring A Hammer Day at the Centre

BRING A HAMMER DAY

at the Centre is this Friday, March 23rd!

What is Bring A Hammer Day?  Well it’s a fun way for our members to get a chance to leave their mark on the old armory side of the facility.  We’ll arm you with a hard hat and one of our staff will go with you to “leave your mark” in our facilities history.  You’ll be able to make a hole, or holes, in the section of building that will be torn down beginning on Monday, March 26.

Along with leaving your mark we will have you sign your spot and take a picture of you for historical purposes.  We’ll then print the pictures and put them on the large windows in front of the red lobby!

We will also be having 2 large group picture opportunities this Friday.  The first being at 11 am right out in front of the old armory side and the second being at 6 pm right out in front of the old armory side.

Be a part of history in the first, and probably only, BRING A HAMMER DAY at the Centre.  Don’t worry, if you don’t have a hammer we will provide one for you.

March 19th Construction Update

The final approval has been received from the City of New Richmond.  We now wait for them to review the documents, sign, and return and the construction process will begin full force.  We anticipate the return of the documents to happen on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

Due to this we have an updated plan for when the old armory side will come down.  The new schedule will be for it to come down next Monday, March 26 through Wednesday, March 28.  During this time we will close the gymnasium so unfortunately we will not have Kids Kove on these three days.

We apologize for this inconvenience and we expect this to be the only time that Kids Kove will not be able to operate during the remodeling project.

Watch for additional updates on the schedule and join us as we see the old building come down next week.  Also look for updated construction layouts in the front vestibule.

If you have any questions please feel free to give Darian Blattner a call at 246-2252 or e-mail at dblattner@nracentre.com.
